The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item upgrader kit level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through Item Level upgrade upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which will display a preview of the item upgrader kit at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the item upgrades slot, and the current level of the item. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
