World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a certain amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases when it is upgraded. This value is the total of all the leveled up advantages (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on the person you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the variety of perks that must be modified to upgrade an item.

Item level is a widely used measurement of power and is visible on all item tooltips. It is also used to limit how much PvP gear players can use, since PvP is limited at lower levels. The average level of an item can be found in the character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment players can look at the levels of the item. It's a useful gauge of an item's worth and how much damage it's capable of dealing with. Comparing items from the inventory of a seller can be done using the level of the item.

The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the full description of the item, including its level. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are a variety of theories on the method by which the level of an item is determined. One theory is that the item level is a numerical value derived from a formula which calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It is based on the fact that different advantages are valued differently and that gems found in sockets boost the value of the item. This could result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is usually very close to Blizzard's actual item level.

This is not the only thing that affects the level of an item. The degree of the area in which the item dropped can also change its stats. For example, it could increase the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant part of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses them in various ways to encourage players to not restrict themselves to a particular weapon and to motivate players to explore other weapons. The base stats on a weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modifications that are in turn enhanced by the player's level.

The upgrades to an item can increase the stats of an item. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. A grey or white item, for example, will only be upgraded one time however, items with rare tiers can be upgraded several times at higher prices.

Another way to change the stats on an item is by affixing it. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. Affixes can provide the item additional damage, or give a specific ability to the item (such as reviving dead or decreasing cooldowns) or make the item unique by putting a special name to the item.

All affixes are currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount of gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, as with other rerolling methods.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may also choose which stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges of an item are determined by the level of the Best item upgrader, but every item is guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the specified range, unless it is an item that is unique or a God roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could change is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll attachments, or pick which stats to enhance. As with the base equipment, this would have to be done per item, and the interface for item comparison wouldn't display all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player can increase the likelihood of locating items as well as the properties generated by loot, and the strength of these properties. It doesn't, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It provides players with the chance to upgrade equipment earlier in the game. This is particularly useful in early game runs because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade chances that increase with each level of the item. They can also be increased with the use of anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, armor, and shields can be made or spawn with the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant a further +40 Luck or to boost the luck of an item up to 140.

Moreover there are certain items, such as the Hollow infused weapon can be outfitted to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items are available at the store, or they can be made using the correct ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be a costly process and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their items if it fails.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading that item, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased by so much, and the likelihood that the upgrade will fail cannot be greater than 100%..

The success of an can be affected by the luck of the item. Each item has a base success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

The upgrade overlays of the item are rendered above items in the inventory. This can cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
