However, as with the base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-item basis, and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the probability of obtaining items and the properties that are created by loot and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players an opportunity to get better gear earlier in the game. This is more advantageous in early game runs because players tend to put weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance, which increases with each level and can be further increased by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons have a default Luck value of 40. These items can then be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to give +40 Luck, or to increase the Luck of the item up to 140.

Certain items, such as the weapon that is infused with hollow, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any skill that deals damage by five percent. These items can be purchased in the shops or made with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are a costly process and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item if it is not successful.

When you upgrade an item the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading that item, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased as much, and the likelihood that the upgrade will fail cannot be greater than 100%..

The success of an item upgrade is also affected by the luck of the item. Every item has an average success rate of 25 percent, and each item with Luck increases this chance by 5%.

Note that item upgrades are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects may be obscured by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
